Required Expertise
Title Research & Legal Analysis
- Comprehensive knowledge of Texas property law and title examination standards
- Advanced understanding of mineral ownership, including surface/mineral estate severance
- Expertise in multi-generational probate and heirship proceedings
- Proficiency in complex instrument interpretation and title curative solutions
Technical Proficiency
- Accurate calculation of mineral, working, and royalty interests
- Analysis of non-participating royalty interests and overriding royalties
- Net mineral acre reconciliation and ownership verification
- Accurate calculation of back-in and carried working interests
Contract Evaluation
- Oil and gas lease interpretation and analysis
- Assessment of retained acreage provisions and Pugh clauses
- Evaluation of continuous development obligations
- Understanding of horizontal and vertical severance issues
Mapping & Survey Skills
- Interpretation of complex metes and bounds descriptions
- Survey plotting and acreage calculations
- Historical boundary reconstruction
Production Research
- Proven experience with historic production research
- Understanding of completion records and other TX RRC filings
- Comprehensive knowledge of how the regulatory environment affects title
Professional Requirements
- Demonstrated ethical practice and transparent and honest billing
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
- Meticulous attention to detail and documentation standards
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- While professional certification (CPL/RPL) and academic degrees are valued, demonstrated expertise and practical experience are our primary considerations.
